About Jamaica Performing Arts Center (JPAC)

  • Can you give me a history and background of JPAC?

    The greatest accomplishment to date of the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning has been the transformation of the landmarked 1858 First Reformed Dutch Church into a state-of-the-art, 400-seat performance space, the Jamaica Performing Arts Center (JPAC). Built in the early Romanesque Revival style, the building features a gabled, brick façade with brownstone trim, arched entryways, asymmetrical towers, and stained glass windows. JPAC is a multi-use performance space that includes a 23 by 27 foot stage with lexible seating space, rehearsal/meeting rooms, and high-tech lighting and sound systems. JPAC was recently awarded the Lucy G. Moses Award, the NY Landmarks Conservancy’s highest award honoring outstanding achievement in preservation.

  • Where can I find a calendar of events?

    The JPAC Event Calendar may be accessed at the top left corner of every page on the web site or by clicking on the calendar tab located under quick links on the home page. Our events are also listed on JPAC season brochure booklet which is available in the lobby brochure racks in JPAC and Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning.

  • Can I take a tour of JPAC?

    Individuals and groups are welcome to get a tour of this Landmark building. Tours are available by appointment only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

  • Is JPAC accessible for people with disabilities?

    JPAC is accessible for individuals with limited mobility. Information regarding particular needs of individual patrons is very important to us. In order to make necessary arrangements, we encourage you to call us at (718) 618 6170 prior of attending a performance.

  • I lost something at a concert? How should I proceed?

    JPAC is not responsible for items left on premises by patrons and/or artists, but provides a convenient process in assisting the return of items to its owner.

    A Lost Item List will be made available at the Front desk for patrons and artists who report missing items. A person should list and provide a detailed description of lost item along with their name, email or phone number. A staff member will contact the person if the item is turned in to JPAC.

    The Facility Manager will make every effort to contact the owner if sufficient identification is on the item. All lost and found items will be held for sixty (60) days. Items not claimed within sixty days will be disbursed. Items of value will be taken to the local police precinct. Non-reusable items will be disposed. All reusable items will be appropriately donated or become property of JPAC. For Debit/Credit Cards, Driver’s License and Similar Cards, staff will follow instructions on back of the cards to dispose of the item.

  • How can I be added to the mailing list?

    You can join our mailing list by filling out one of our Mailing List Information cards located in the brochure rack in the lobby and at the reception desk. You can also contact us at (718) 618 6170 to inform us of your interest in joining our mailing list.

  • How do I become a member of JPAC?

    Currently, JPAC does not have a membership program. We are looking to have it available to our patrons in the future.

  • Who should I contact for employment, internship and volunteer opportunities at JPAC?

    JPAC lists its job, internship and volunteer positions under the Employment and Internship Opportunity section. Each available position will have the appropriate contact information.

  • How can I purchase tickets?

    There are three (3) ways available to purchase tickets for an event: online, by phone and at our box office.

  • What are the hours and location of the box office?

    The box office is located at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, 153-10 Jamaica Ave.

    Tuesdays-Fridays, 9:30am-12:30pm & 1:30pm-5:00pm

    For Saturday events, the box office will be open two hours prior to scheduled performance.

  • Where can I see a seating chart of the theater?

    Seating chart is available in the EVENTS & TICKETING section of our website.

  • Does JPAC offer student and special group rates?

    Student and special group rates, if offered, will be listed as part of the event description in the EVENTS & TICKETING section of our website. Please refer to event description for details.

  • How do I know if a performance has been canceled?

    Look for postings of event cancellations in the NEWS and EVENTS & TICKETING sections of our web site’s home page. Most performances at JPAC occur as scheduled regardless of the weather. If weather concerns should arise, check with the box office for updates and information.

  • Can I return or exchange my tickets for another performance?

    All ticket purchases are final. No refunds or exchanges are allowed.

  • How do I get to JPAC?

    JPAC is conveniently located on the corner of 153rd street and Jamaica Ave. We are accessible by Car, Train, LIRR and Bus.

    BY CAR:
    Grand Central Parkway: Coming from Manhattan, going eastbound, exit at Parsons Blvd., right on Parsons Blvd. to Jamaica Ave., left on Jamaica Ave. We are 1 block from Parsons Blvd.

    Westbound from eastern Queens or Long Island - Exit at 168th Street, stay on service road to Parsons Blvd. left on Parsons Blvd. to Jamaica Ave., right on Jamaica Ave. We are 1 block from Parsons Blvd.

    LONG ISLAND EXPWY. - Eastbound, exit at Grand Central Pkwy. to Parsons Blvd. right onto Parsons Blvd. to Jamaica Ave., right on Jamaica Ave. We are 1 block from Parsons Blvd.

    WESTBOUND - Exit at Utopia Pkwy./164th St., go left on Utopia Pkwy. to Hillside Ave. (bottom of hill), right on Hillside Ave. to Parsons Blvd. to Jamaica Ave., right on Jamaica Ave. We are 1 block from Parsons Blvd.

    VAN WYCK EXPWY. - Northbound from the Belt Pkwy; exit at Jamaica Ave., right onto Jamaica Ave. We are between Parsons Blvd. and 153rd Street.

    E or J/Z train to Jamaica Center, Parsons Blvd./Archer Ave., (last stop on these lines). Board front of train and exit station via furthermost left. Walk ½ a block North to Jamaica Ave. and 1 west on Jamaica Ave,

    F train to Parsons Blvd., Hillside Ave., walk approximately 3 blocks on Parsons Blvd. to Jamaica Ave., make a right on Jamaica Ave. We are 1 block from Parsons Blvd. and , Jamaica Ave.

    There are several parking garages in the area.

    Metered parking is available along the side streets and is enforced until 7pm.
